The story of GHD Georg Hartmann Maschinenbau GmbH began in 1933 when a repair shop was founded by the engineer Georg Hartmann as a turning shop and supplier for the local craft and trade businesses.
Upon request from a bread factory at our hometown Delbrück, his son Johannes Hartmann developed the first packing machine for sliced bread in 1969.
Due to the positive feedback from the baking industry, the production of industrial bread packing machines began, first at the company of the parents, and later at the newly constructed manufacturing site located in the west-side commercial area of the town of Delbrück.
Today, GHD is the leading manufacturer of technologically highly developed machinery and offers individualised system solutions for the food industry. On 17,500 square meters, 170 employees produce exclusively special order equipment. The manufacturing programme comprises packing machines for bread and bread rolls, industrial bread slicing machines, clipping units, as well as sorting and portioning systems.
In addition to single units, the share of specially developed custom package solutions is continuously increasing. In order to ensure professional advice and reliable service at all times for their customers, GHD cooperates with independent agents in 35 European countries as well as in the USA and China.
Company-owned, top-of-the-line metal machining centres ensure maximum efficiency and flexibility, even for demanding custom products. The product range is continuously developed and expanded, so that more than 5,000 equipment units have been delivered to date to 50 countries worldwide.
The family operations are currently being run by the 3rd generation.
